Lexington, Horse Capital of the World, is a vibrant city nestled in the heart of Kentucky's famed scenic Bluegrass Region. Lexington is home to Transylvania University, the oldest university west of the Alleghenies. The Mary Todd Lincoln House is the nation's first shrine to a First Lady. Several historic estates are open for tours. Students of architecture won't want to miss Latrobe's Pope Villa. This ongoing restoration project is one of the few remaining examples of the work of Benjamin Henry Latrobe, one of the architects of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Just minutes from the center of the city, you'll find picturesque Bourbon distilleries in historic settings still producing the quality products enjoyed around the world. This region is the birthplace of Bourbon, America's only native spirit, but the late 1700's it was also home to the nation's first commercial wine growing operation. That heritage has been revived today by a young but robust wine industry.
Located at the crossroads of I 64 and I 75 and within a day's drive of two-thirds of the U.S population, Lexington is easily accessible. Bluegrass Airport offers more than 90 daily flights and arguably the most beautiful air approach in the United States.
