I love vintage, so, for me, the idea of decorating a kid's bedroom in a hotchpotch of pretty floral bedding, distressed furniture and jumbled bits and pieces is sheer heaven. What makes the vintage look even more appealing is that it doesn't have to be a difficult or expensive one to pull off. Furniture that has seen better days can be revamped with paint or even wallpaper, while vintage pictures, cushions and mirrors can be sprinkled around for the cutest mishmash. Take a look at these little havens for inspiration.
Introduce a Scandi vibe
The stripped-back, unfussy lines of Scandinavian styling are perfect for a vintage bedroom. Revamp an old chest and chair simply and cheaply with a fresh lick of paint (duck-egg blue, dove grey and sticking-plaster pink are good colours) and replace knobs with pretty glass versions.

Hang sweet accessories
Whitewashed floorboards and plain white walls make a great backdrop for vintage pieces. Introduce smudges of pretty pastel with cute artworks, baskets and bunting, and hang up dressing-up costumes for a personal touch.
Be inspired by artistic wall displays
Keep it simple
Sometimes, it really is the simplest of schemes that are the most effective. The powder blue walls, unassuming window seat and layers of pretty bedding in this room create a charming bedroom that the youngest member of the family will love for years to come.
Look out for second-hand treasures
For anyone with a magpie instinct, the vintage look is spot-on. It gives you free rein to mix and match one-off treasures from any era in a rainbow of hues. We don't all love the same things, so for children sharing a room, such a melting pot of bits and bobs will really add to the appeal.
Keep it bright and beautiful
Kids, particularly teenagers, don't always need lots of colour. This room proves vintage can work brilliantly in white with pink accents, the carved beds and pretty bedding adding just the right touch of detail.
Add pops of bright colour
Start as you mean to go on with a sweet vintage nursery. This room introduces pattern and colour in a more grown-up but still fun way. Piles of cushions make a great space in which to hang out and learn about colours, patterns and shapes.
Clash colour and pattern
You can't really go wrong in a vintage bedroom. Layer a line-up of patterns and prints, and seek out anything crocheted, trimmed or tasselled. The more eclectic the better.
Try a blend of old and new
The vintage bedroom doesn't have to be filled with original and unique finds – today's modern-day versions will do the trick just as well. Feel free to mix up ditsy florals with retro prints and simple white furniture, be it antique or new.
